THE FOURTH SECTION...

The next SECTION, the fourth section, AFTER YOUR RÉSUMÉ should be titled: “Research” Make that Heading 1 style.

You will need to go on the Internet and choose a company, local, national or international, that you want to work for: you can pretend or it could be real.

Take some time to learn about the COMPANY, where is it, what is it's mission, what do they do, how do they operate, who works there, who are their customers? Look at the industry that they are in, what is it how is it doing, how is the company doing? Is this the kind of place that you want to work? Why? Write up a brief description of what you found (TELL ME ABOUT AT LEAST THREE THINGS THAT YOU FOUND) and what you thought about them.

Take some time to learn about the JOB. Find a job opening at that company. Locate the job description for that opening. Copy and paste the job description into the Research section of your Job Search document.

Look closely at the job description, your interviewer will most assuredly ask you if you have read it. Look at each bullet point and be prepared to demonstrate how you are able to tackle each of the responsibilities and qualifications listed. Write a response to three of the main requirements and job duties that are listed in the job description—if you really want this job you would write a response to ALL of the main requirements and job duties that are listed in the job description, this could be extensive and quite daunting, so persevere.

Make citations and place them appropriately to indicate in MLA format where you got your information.

REMEMBER: this is your document, you choose what fonts, sizes, styles, colors, layout, graphics and picture to use. Be creative. Be you.
